FAB has around 300 books on tape which have been categorised as:
* Autobiography and Biography
* Crime and Detective
* Fiction (woman focused and feminist books)
* Historical Fiction (set before the 1950s)
* Lesbian Fiction
* Non-Fiction
* Poetry
* Romance
* Science fiction and Fantasy
* Short Stories
Where appropriate, some titles have been placed in more than one category.
FAB also reads 90 minutes of extracts from Diva magazine each month and has a few issues of Velvet magazine (now folded) that members can borrow.
As FAB began in the 1980s, some of the recordings are over 20 years old. FAB still makes these older books available but hopes borrowers will appreciate that the sound quality of these is not as good as it once was.
Books To Share
Members also have access to a separate, smaller catalogue of books and material which FAB members wish to share. FAB cannot guarantee the quality or copyright status of these books, but is willing to act as a go-between to ensure that women have wider access to audio material.
The books are a mixture of fiction and non-fiction, including some gay and lesbian studies texts and poetry.
